At the General Board meeting held on April 24, the Guayaquil Charity Board (JBG) unanimously ratified Juan Xavier Cordovez<\/strong> as general director of the institution for the 2025\u20132027 term. <\/span><\/p>\n

Tambi\u00e9n fueron confirmados en sus cargos <\/span>Iv\u00e1n Baquerizo<\/strong> y <\/span>Jos\u00e9 Enrique Ribas<\/strong> como primer y segundo directores, respectivamente. <\/span>Roberto Dunn<\/strong> continuar\u00e1 liderando la Direcci\u00f3n Ejecutiva, y <\/span>Mar\u00eda Alejandra Mu\u00f1oz<\/strong>, ex vicepresidenta de la Rep\u00fablica, se mantendr\u00e1 como Comisionada para la Inversi\u00f3n Social, rol clave en el fortalecimiento y expansi\u00f3n de la obra social de la JBG.<\/span><\/p>\n

Leadership that transforms<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Cordovez’s re-election reflects a management marked by concrete results and sustained commitment. Since his appointment in 2020, his leadership has been fundamental in facing the COVID-19 health crisis and projecting the JBG as a benchmark in hospital care and social action in the country. In 2024, the institution increased its budget by 43% compared to the previous year, managing to expand its coverage to 222 cantons and benefiting more than 2 million Ecuadorians<\/strong> – 25% more than in 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n

S<\/span>ocial investment with impact<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

In the area of health, social investment grew by 71%, allowing the hospital network to be strengthened and the reach of the social co-payment program to be expanded, with an increase of 112% in medical care. In addition, free surgeries went from 1,000 in 2020 to more than 12,000 in 2024<\/strong>, multiplying its surgical response capacity by 12.<\/span><\/p>\n

Innovation and institutional sustainability<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

During this period, the JBG has consolidated its technological transformation process, improving operational efficiency and ensuring sustainable growth. Institutional governance was also strengthened, key infrastructures were modernized, and new strategic alliances were established at the international level.<\/span><\/p>\n

A management model focused on people<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Under the leadership of Mar\u00eda Alejandra Mu\u00f1oz, the Commissioner for Social Investment, the focus on projects for inclusion, nutrition and care for groups in vulnerable situations has been intensified. In 2024 alone, more than 10,000 people benefited from programs against chronic child malnutrition, in new communities in the country.<\/span><\/p>\n

With more than 5,000 committed collaborators<\/strong>, the Guayaquil Charity Board is consolidated as the leading organization in social action in Ecuador.
