In homage to the 490th anniversary of the Founding of Guayaquil, the General Cemetery of the Board of Charity invites citizens to participate in the second edition of the Express Photography Contest “A Look at History,” a one-day creative experience that seeks to highlight the heritage, artistic, and human value of the General Cemetery, an icon of the city and witness to its memory.
Registration will be free and in person on the day of the event, which will be held on Saturday, July 26, from 09:00 to 13:00, at Gate 3 of the General Cemetery. The contest is aimed at people over 18 years of age, professional and amateur photographers who wish to capture, through their lens, the visual and symbolic richness of this unique space in the heart of Guayaquil. Contest photographs must be taken on the day of the event.
The 20 best photographs will be evaluated by a jury made up of representatives of the Board of Charity of Guayaquil and winning photographers from previous editions, taking into account three key criteria: composition, originality, and connection with the environment.
These photographs will be exhibited on social networks, and the community will choose the top three places, who will receive $500, $300, and $100, respectively. The winners will be announced through the Instagram account
“A Look at History” is also a tribute to the Guayaquil identity from a place that holds centuries of stories, funerary art, and expressions of collective resilience.
We invite you to be part of this day and celebrate Guayaquil with images that will last over time!
