To mark International Senior Citizens Day, the Hogar del Corazón de Jesús of the Guayaquil Charity Board (JBG) will honor its nearly 350 residents with a special agenda that will take place throughout October.

The celebration kicks off this October 1st with three central activities: a talk on the Rights of Senior Citizens, the residents’ parade, and an artistic performance by the singer Abigaíl.

The program will continue throughout the month with talks on emotional health, artistic and folkloric performances, civic celebrations, integration days with educational institutions, recreational activities, and a wellness SPA for residents. The closing event will be the “Imitate Your Favorite Artist” contest, which will bring together senior citizens, family members, and collaborators in a space of talent and joy.

“With this extensive agenda of activities focused on enhancing the talent and experiences of the residents of Hogar del Corazón de Jesús, we want each day to be a recognition of the value and experience of our senior citizens,” said psychologist Mayra Loaiza, from the home’s gerontology department and program coordinator.

Initiatives such as these foster participation, enthusiasm, and strengthen the sense of community, self-esteem, and quality of life of the residents of the Charity Board’s Home. In addition, they are part of the comprehensive, dignified, and humane care that senior citizens deserve to receive in all possible scenarios.
