The Guayaquil Charity Board and the National Assembly seal a new alliance with the aim of strengthening social projects throughout the country.

  • The President of the National Assembly, Niels Olsen, toured several assistance centers of the Board in Guayaquil, together with Juan Xavier Cordovez, general director of the entity.
  • During the visit, the authorities held a coordination meeting in order to outline joint cooperation actions for the coming months.

Juan Xavier Cordovez and other members of the Board of Directors of the Guayaquil Charity Board (JBG) received the visit of the President of the National Assembly, Niels Olsen, with the goal of strengthening inter-institutional cooperation and promoting the social work of the Board, in the 222 cantons of the country.

Olsen, together with the authorities of the JBG, toured the Roberto Gilbert and Alfredo Paulson hospitals run by the Board. In addition, the high legislative authority held a bilateral meeting with the Board of Directors of the entity at its headquarters.

At the Roberto Gilbert Children’s Hospital, the President of the National Assembly visited the Outpatient Consultation areas, the Intensive Care Unit and the Neonatal Care area. He was received by a group of pediatric patients.

At the Alfredo Paulson Specialty Hospital, the visit took place in the post-operative, emergency and ICU areas.

During the visit, Niels Olsen and his delegation were able to learn directly about the tripartite management model (public sector, private sector and civil society), which the JBG promotes. In addition, they were able to verify how the Board is an effective bridge between the State and citizens, especially in sensitive areas such as health, education, and social assistance.

Juan Xavier Cordovez, Director of the JBG, expressed his satisfaction at receiving the head of the first power of the state and taking advantage of the opportunity to strengthen the dialogue between the two entities with a single objective: to improve the quality of life of those most in need.

“We work with the conviction that the Board will continue to expand its services and thus consolidate our leadership, as an institution that transforms society. Receiving the President of the National Assembly and adding him as an ally is part of that conviction,” said Cordovez.

A work with historical results

2024 was a year of institutional growth for the JBG. The goal of beneficiaries was exceeded, reaching for the first time to impact two million people, this is 505,000 people more than in 2023.

In the area of health alone, the JBG registered four million consultations in the four hospitals run by the JBG, which are Roberto Gilbert, Alfredo Paulson, Institute of Neurosciences and Luis Vernaza.

Additionally, the entity went from 1,000 free surgeries to 12,076 in 2024. The scope of the territorial missions of preventive health was also expanded with dental interventions that reached 160,000 procedures, this being a dynamizing element of the presence of the Board in the territory.
