The Board of Charity has been characterized by sheltering thousands of Ecuadorians in vulnerable situations in its homes for girls and the elderly. Likewise, it not only cares for them when they are inside the homes, but also cares for them in their own homes when it comes to people with severe disabilities.

Thus, since 2023, the Board implemented its territorial Home Care program for people with disabilities, and travels through the 222 cantons of the country, under an intervention model that includes, among others, inter-institutional coordination, nominal monitoring, package of access to health with delivery of inclusive tools, package of medical supplies and package of food security through the delivery of food kit.

According to the 2010 census, in Ecuador there are 471,000 people with disabilities, of which 45.66% have a physical disability. Of the total number of people with disabilities, 20% have a severe disability with a degree of severity greater than 75%. Of that group, 37,922 people are in extreme poverty and receive the Joaquín Gallegos Lara bonus.

On this occasion, the Board, with its Blue Vests, arrived in the province of Sucumbíos and in an enormous effort to improve the quality of life of our beneficiaries, it was possible to reach territories of difficult access, overcoming obstacles to reach the most needy communities. The service day was extended for 3 days in the area, benefiting especially the cantons of Cascales, Cuyabeno and Shushufindi.

“Helping is the great work” is the motto of the Board of Charity, an institution that annually impacts more than 2 million people with access to health, education, inclusion and food, reaching every corner of the country during the 365 days of the year.
