Junta de Beneficencia Inaugurates Sports School in Cuenca, with the Presence of King Felipe VI

Within the framework of the XXIX Ibero-American Summit of Presidents held in Cuenca on November 14, Juan Xavier Cordovez, director of the Junta de Beneficencia, inaugurated the JBG Sports School in the capital of Azuay, benefiting 600 children and adolescents. The event was attended by King Felipe VI of Spain, who attended as a guest of honor, accompanied by the President of Ecuador, Daniel Noboa, and the President of Atlético de Madrid, Enrique Cerezo.

The sports school, located in the La Gloria Sports Complex, is an initiative of the Junta de Beneficencia de Guayaquil (JBG), which has the potential to transform not only the sports scene of Cuenca, but also to open new opportunities for future generations.

Impact on the community.

During the inaugural ceremony, Juan Xavier Cordovez highlighted the institution’s commitment to the comprehensive development of young people through sports. “This is the first school we have opened outside of Guayaquil, and we have more than 10,000 beneficiaries of the program. We thank the mayor for his social vision, which has allowed this process to be executed in just one week,” Cordovez commented.

For his part, Mayor Cristian Zamora expressed his enthusiasm and gratitude to the children for being part of this initiative. “From here, perhaps the next football figures will emerge,” he said, encouraging the young people to give their best effort on the field and dream big.

This training center not only represents an opportunity for the young people of Cuenca to develop their sports skills, but will also have a direct impact on their physical and emotional well-being. The program participants will receive comprehensive medical care, which includes physical health care, dentistry, physiotherapy, as well as psychological evaluations and nutritional support. In addition, scholarships will be awarded to facilitate access to education and sports training.

This project has the firm intention of continuing to grow, impacting thousands of children and adolescents in Cuenca and other locations, consolidating the Junta de Beneficencia de Guayaquil as a benchmark in the promotion of sports as a tool for social change.
